Boats, Barbados, and Bad Boyz with Chef Kelston Moore

Chef Kelston Moore is a private chef who delivers one-of-a-kind dining experiences in San Diego. He’s also the co-founder of Bad Boyz of Culinary, a nonprofit that gives Black chefs the tools to grow within the culinary industry. We had the opportunity to sit down and talk about all the things, from growing up in Barbados to integrating chefdom and fatherhood in a time-intensive career. Chef Works: You’re a father and chef working within an industry that requires a lot of time away from your family. How do you manage and what’s your take on the balance of the two? Kelston Moore: I’m actually starting to learn it a whole lot better now. I try to include my son in...

30 Practical Organization Themed Holiday Gifts for An Organized 2023

The season to find unique and practical gifts for loved ones is upon us. Why not give organization themed holiday gifts this year?  As a Professional Organizer I always cringe a little at this time of year because I know there may be a flood of impractical items entering my home.  The fun side of me loves those moments of joy when opening a funny or thoughtful gift.  But the reality is most gifts are something that we do not need and probably will not use.  That’s why I like to give practical gifts that are useful and have a purpose in our homes for stocking stuffers, hostess gifts and more. Sexy Coffee and Racist Tea: Weird and Troubling Nutcracker Productions

Once upon a time six years ago, there was a very tiny toy soldier bravely marching into battle under the direction of her Nutcracker General to fight off the Mouse hordes. Several promotions later, that child soldier has grown into an Officer, dancing her first role en pointe in our local university's production of The Nutcracker. 5 Non-Obvious Signs of People Who End Up Cheating in a Relationship

The other day a few of our high school friends met at a bridal shower. We hadn’t seen each other in a while, and so many individual aspects of our lives had changed. Some of us are happily married parents. Others have chosen a child-free life. Others are single parents with zero intentions of ever marrying. Some are single and hoping to find a partner that fits their lifestyle. Hint; it’s hard. As we got talking about our relationships, we came to the realization that we have one unifying factor: We’ve all been victims of the big C. (cheating) Here’s the gist we all agreed on; if we knew what to look out for in the lovers who left...

I Enlisted A TikTok-Approved Stylist To Help Me Dress For Work

I must admit, I’ve always been attracted to corporate fashion. There’s something about crisp shirts, tailored khaki pants and classic blazers that enthuse optimism in my brain, even if corporate offices and boardrooms are not the most alluring places to be in. It might have to do with growing up with a mother who never let her dull, accounting job erase her love of fashion. It was quite the opposite, actually. Every morning, I’d see her tying a pussy-bow blouse, pairing it with perfectly fitted pants and classic pumps. On occasion it was a suit she’d made herself, accessorized with a classic tote bag from Marshalls.  Somehow, even when I got some of the best corporate style lessons from my mother,...
