How to Store and Organize Irregularly Shaped Garment

s A dress with one sleeve, lots of ties, hats. These are just a few common clothing items that can be difficult to store and organize due to their irregular shapes. What can you do when your closet is ill-equipped for these irregularly-shaped garments? While you can create halfway decent solution with a hodgepodge of options, the best solution is to customize your closet inside and out.  Using Your Closet Door as a Storage Area For a budget-friendly option, using door storage organizers for small items, such as ties. You can also use door organizers for socks by rolling them up. Door organizers can help keep small items neatly arranged. For a more upscale option, use drawer inserts. Drawers can...

Another excerpt of a longer fictional piece I am working on — more here and here

********* Companion music for this segment: Celeste’s heart-rending “Strange.” ********* I did catch a glimpse Powell once in the four years we were “on a break,” and it was the day I graduated from the University of Virginia. Grounds were flooded with students, my parents were in town, and Buck — by some stroke of good fortune returned from his first deployment to Iraq — arrived at my door at 8:45 in the morning in full military regalia with a bouquet of white roses. Looking for clothes that are cozy enough to wear all winter, while still being cute? You've got to try this brand.

Many of the moms I know are in a wardrobe funk. They have little desire to shop (where are we going?) and aren't really discovering new brands. This week on Catching up on the Kelnhofers, I’m sharing a major Amazon fail, a fun gift I was given that helps the kids eat more fruit and some great kid-friendly board games.

I have to start off by apologizing for a preview recommendation in the ‘Amazon Item You Didn’t Know You Needed’ section. I know how much you guys love those recommendations and finds. And I love sharing them.  But after setting up and using the Kitchen wrap organizer I recommended, I ended up returning it.  So to everyone who got it. Sorry. If you haven’t purchased it yet, don’t! Maybe it was a user error? I set it up (actually, I had Nick set it up) and put it in the pantry where I was going to put all my kitchen wrap things on it. It looked awesome. I recommended it.  Then, over the weekend, I tried putting the plastic wrap...
