With Halloween just around the corner, it's once again time for a public service announcement: Don't appropriate culture for a costume. If you're worried about offending someone, the good news is that it's easy to avoid. Does your costume involve stereotypical signifiers like sombreros or, god forbid, blackface? Skip it. Does your costume oversexualize women of color, like a slutty geisha or Native American princess? If in doubt, choose something else (like a mouse, duh!).
